Dr. Khan offers the Medtronic Barrx Radiofrequency ablation procedure for Barrett’s esophagus. Chronic gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) can lead to Barrett’s esophagus, a primary risk factor for esophageal cancer. Baptist Health’s new Medtronic Barrx radiofrequency ablation (RFA) system effectively removes precancerous cells with heat. Clinical studies show the system reduces the risk of Barrett’s esophagus progressing to esophageal cancer by more than 90%.

He also played a vital role in bringing the first-in-state hydrosurgery technology, ERBEJET® 2, to Baptist Health. ERBEJET® 2 is a new dimension in hydrosurgery that allows for precise, selective tissue separation gently by waterjet. Blood vessels and nerves remain intact up to a certain pressure. The ERBEJET® 2 dissects sharply and precisely with minimal trauma to structures such as vessels, nerves and ducts.

In his spare time, Dr. Khan enjoys comparative linguistics, ancient Persian literature and equestrian sports.
