Dr. Michael Hussey is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon whose practice is dedicated solely to the study and treatment of all shoulder and elbow injuries. His extensive training has allowed him to treat all complex problems, ranging from sports injuries to arthritis. Dr. Hussey is conservative in his treatment approach, always looking for a non-surgical approach to the patient first and reserving surgery as the final option. His ultimate goal is to restore mobility and power to the injured arm, so that patients can get back to enjoying their hobbies and life again.
Dr. Hussey attended the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences where he graduated as an Alpha Omega Alpha honor recipient. He then completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Texas in San Antonio, a world-class center for fracture and upper extremity care. From there, he pursued a shoulder and elbow fellowship at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute, gaining expertise in arthroscopic as well as joint replacement techniques. Focused on sports injuries, he then traveled abroad for international fellowship training in minimally invasive shoulder reconstruction, treating athletes from around the world at the prestigious Alps Surgery Institute in France. Dr. Hussey has also completed the MAOA Traveling Fellowship in advanced elbow reconstruction at the Mayo Clinic. In his practice, he devotes his passion and skills to the treatment of all complex shoulder and elbow disorders, ranging from sports injuries to arthritis.
Dr. Hussey’s particular interest in both shoulder and elbow surgery is evident in his numerous research investigations and publications in the orthopaedic literature. He is the author of four book chapters related to injuries of the shoulder and elbow. He also serves as a consultant reviewer for the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.
A native Arkansan, Dr. Hussey is an outdoor enthusiast, enjoying every chance he gets to fish, hunt, and spend time on our great lakes with his wife and two children.
