How does Home Infusion Therapy work?

All Home Infusion Therapy begins and ends with an order from your physician. After the order from your physician is received by our intake coordinator, a registered nurse will visit with you in your hospital room to discuss your therapy.

Prior to discharge, the Baptist Health Medical Towers Pharmacy & Infusion Services Team will determine the appropriate method of administration of your medication (stationary pumps, small portable programmable pumps, syringe pumps or non-pump options) and teach the fundamentals of sterile treatment as well as how to monitor your insertion site. Our team uses a completely needleless system so that you and your family do not have to worry about needle sticks.

Once you are in the comfort of your own home and set up with your home infusion equipment, the Baptist Health Medical Towers Pharmacy and Infusion Services Team will contact you on a weekly basis, or as needed, to determine ongoing medication supplies and coordinate delivery. Our clinical pharmacists and registered nurses monitor your intravenous therapy very closely and report results directly to your physician.

Is Home Infusion Therapy covered by commercial insurance, Medicare & Medicaid?

Baptist Health accepts patients with most payor sources, both commercial and governmental. Coverage for Medicare and Medicaid is very specific and will be discussed with you, in advance, by one of our reimbursement specialists.
