Ryan Banning, MD, Joins Baptist Health-Fort Smith

FORT SMITH, Ark. –
Ryan Banning, MD, has joined the medical staff at Baptist Health-Fort Smith as a general surgeon.

Dr. Banning grew up in Lavaca and later earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Biochemistry from Hendrix College. He earned a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and completed a general surgery residency at ChristianaCare in Newark, Delaware earlier this year.

Dr. Banning offers a wide range of surgical services including both laparoscopic and robotic surgery. He looks forward to providing quality surgical care in the community he grew up in. Dr. Banning takes an inclusive and collaborative approach to treating his patients.

“My practice philosophy is to always keep the individual patient in mind and base their care on their unique situation,” said Dr. Banning. “One surgery or treatment plan isn’t right for everyone, and there has to be a conversation and a joint decision between the surgeon and the patient. I hope to have a very open, honest relationship with my patients, knowing that they’re trusting me and inviting me into their lives in a very important way.”

Dr. Banning said he enjoys being able to help a patient in a very tangible way, as well as seeing his patients’ health improve over time with follow-up care. In addition to caring for patients in the hospital, Dr. Banning will see patients in his clinic, Baptist Health Surgical Clinic-Fort Smith, located at 1500 Dodson Ave., Suite 175.
