Podiatric Surgeon Joins Baptist Health Foot & Ankle Clinic-Fort Smith

FORT SMITH, Ark. – Scott Bird, DPM, a podiatric surgeon, recently joined Baptist Health Foot and Ankle Clinic-Fort Smith.

Dr. Bird earned his degree at Midwestern University of Health Sciences in Glendale, Arizona in 2018. He completed a residency at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego, California this year.
As a podiatrist, Dr. Bird treats common ailments of the foot and ankle including arthritis, tendinitis, fractures, tendon ruptures, bunions, hammertoes, foot and heel pain, infections, ulcers, ingrown toenails and peripheral vascular disease.

“I was drawn to podiatry because of the opportunity to help people get back to an active lifestyle,” said Dr. Bird. “I love to walk, run, hike, bike, and do all sorts of activities on my feet, so I feel passionate about enabling my patients to do the same.”

Dr. Bird believes keeping his patients active, in motion and on their feet will directly improve their health and wellbeing. When it comes to avoiding foot pain, he says the best offense is a good defense.

“You can’t afford to cut corners on footwear,” he said. “Protect yourself with the right orthotics and shoe wear and your feet will stay healthy and take you where you want to go.”

In his spare time, Dr. Bird enjoys hiking, biking, running and fly fishing. He is married with three children. Dr. Bird and his family are excited to live in the area and explore Western Arkansas.
