STUTTGART, Ark. – Dr. Robert Scheirer, a general surgeon who most recently practiced in Augusta, Georgia, began seeing patients at Baptist Health Medical Center-Stuttgart on Monday, June 5. To welcome Scheirer and his family, the hospital is hosting a community drop-in reception on Thursday, June 22, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Scheirer’s education includes a medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans; an internship at New Britain General Hospital in Connecticut; and his residency at the University of South Carolina in Columbia.
Practicing medicine for 35 years either privately or on staff at various hospitals in New York, Georgia, and South Carolina, Scheirer is board certified in general surgery and hyperbaric medicine. The sixty-one-year-old also has his certification in Advanced Trauma and Cardiovascular Life Support (ATLS, ACLS).
Over his career, Scheirer has had experience performing multiple procedures such as hernia repair, mastectomies, port placements and wound care as well as gallbladder, colon, breast, esophageal and thyroid surgeries.
