Former Waterloo Resident Named One of 100 Great Arkansas Nurses

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Former Allen College of Nursing graduate and Waterloo resident Janna Pipho, now of Little Rock, was one of six Baptist Health nurses recognized for her exemplary nursing care, contributions to the profession of nursing and mentoring of others this year by the Great 100 Nurses Foundation. Pipho is a registered nurse II in the Intensive Care Unit at Baptist Health Medical Center-Little Rock.

“Janna has been dedicated to the nursing profession for more than 25 years. Her career has taken her from a leadership and teaching role as a surgical nurse to a trusted and knowledgeable critical care nurse,” wrote her award nominator. “Every patient or staff member who Pipho encounters is given her complete attention, kindness, compassion, and high-quality care. She will work until the job is done, which means her patients are taken care of even if it means staying after her shift.”

Trusted and respected by leadership and her peers, Pipho is the complete package – dedication, knowledge, and most importantly, heart. She is a great bedside nurse, but her true calling and gift is teaching, according to the person who nominated her.

This is the second year the foundation, which is based in New Orleans, has accepted nominations and selected nurses from Arkansas. For the past 31 years, thousands of nurses from across Louisiana, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Texas and now Arkansas have been recognized through the Great 100 Nurses Foundation program.

Other Baptist Health nurses who were named to the 100 Great Arkansas Nurses included Paula Evans, Lauren Dreher, Marshal Fuller and Georgia Seward.

Recipients from across the state, including those from Baptist Health, were recently celebrated at an awards dinner at the Embassy Suites in Little Rock. Funds raised at the awards event support nursing advocacy, nursing scholarships and nursing research.
