Baptist Health-Fort Smith Partners with Alzheimer’s Association to Focus on Senior Fitness

FORT SMITH, Ark. –   Baptist Health-Fort Smith, Marvin Altman Fitness Center and the Alzheimer’s Association are teaming up to offer a free community program in October. 

The event will consist of a presentation on “Healthy Living for the Brain and Body” followed by a low-impact exercise session for seniors. It will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 8, in the Shuffield Education Center on the first floor of Baptist Health-Fort Smith. Information will also be provided about Baptist Health Senior Care Behavioral Health and it works closely with the Alzheimer’s Association to provide care for Arkansas’ aging population. 

Light refreshments will be served. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing. To RSVP for the event, please email jithompson@alz.org

The specially-trained physicians, nurses, mental health professionals, rehabilitation specialists and case workers at Baptist Health’s 23-bed inpatient geriatric psychiatry unit provide diagnoses and customized treatment plans for adults, ages 55 and older, experiencing acute mental health problems such as depression, dementia and behavioral changes.
