Baptist Health Medical Center-Conway’s Greta Morgan Named Nurse of the Year; Hospital Recognized for Workplace Wellness

CONWAY, Ark. – Greta Morgan, RN at Baptist Health Medical Center-Conway, was named Nurse of the Year at the 2019 North Metro Healthcare Awards on Thursday, Feb. 28. The hospital was additionally honored for its workplace wellness initiatives.

Morgan graduated from the University of Central Arkansas in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She began her nursing career in 1993 as a nurses aide at Baptist Memorial Hospital, now Baptist Health Medical Center-North Little Rock, in North Little Rock.

“Receiving this award is a great honor,” Morgan said of the award, which recognizes a nurse in the Faulkner County area for their dedication and commitment to providing exceptional patient care, excellence in nursing and performing above expectations. “It is a way to say thank you to all of the nurses who have guided and taught me throughout my career.”

That career has included Morgan working in a variety of capacities in intensive care and post-anesthesia care units. Upon the opening of Baptist Health Medical Center-Conway in 2016, Morgan helped to establish the hospital’s post-anesthesia care unit. That same year, she also became a certified post anesthesia nurse.

“During my career as a nurse, I have been fortunate to work with many outstanding nurses and administrators,” Morgan said. “At each stop along the way, I have been exposed to compassionate and knowledgeable nurses who have helped make me into the nurse I am today – one who is passionate about helping those in the Faulkner County area.”

At the North Metro Healthcare Awards on Thursday, Baptist Health Medical Center-Conway also received the Workplace Wellness Award, which recognizes an organization’s commitment to creating and investing in a comprehensive wellness program for their employees.

“Baptist Health Medical Center-Conway is committed to creating a healthier community – not just for residents but for our employees as well,” said Tim Bowen, the hospital’s vice president and administrator.
