Marvin Altman Fitness Center-Fort Smith

Exercise plays an important role in a healthy, active lifestyle, and at the Marvin Altman Fitness Center at Baptist Health-Fort Smith, we equip our northwest Arkansas community with the tools needed to stay fit. With quality exercise equipment, wellness programs, yoga classes, a lap pool, swimming lessons, personal training, massage therapists, free childcare and more, our members have access to the best in fitness backed by the state’s most trusted name in care. The fitness center also features a range of desirable amenities, including locker rooms stocked with towels, soap, conditioner and hair dryers, as well as a sauna and a whirlpool.

Everyone in the Fitness Center must always have an appropriate I.D. 

Children under 14 years of age are not allowed on or near the equipment.

Towels must be put in proper storage and weights re-racked after use to maintain a clean and safe environment.

All trash must be placed in a trash depository, not on the floor or equipment.

All members must wear appropriate attire; a shirt and close-toed shoes, at all times.

Any slamming of the weights is not permitted (plate weight or dumbbells). If you are not strong enough to set your weight down gently, please use a spotter for assistance. Also, grunting and yelling are not allowed.

Personal training is not permitted in the fitness center by anyone other than the staff.

Towels are not permitted to be removed from the fitness center. You must provide your own towel for the pool.

Anyone not complying to these rules will be asked to leave by staff or security. A member’s membership may be permanently terminated by staff or security at any time if they feel it is in the best interest of the Marvin Altman Fitness Center.

Baptist Health Fitness Center-Little Rock

As the fifth largest employer in Arkansas, investing in the health of our employees makes an impact on the health of our state, which is why we offer all our providers, staff and corporate affiliates a membership to our Little Rock fitness center. Located on the ground floor of Baptist Health Rehabilitation Institute (BHRI) on the campus of Baptist Health Medical Center-Little Rock, the fitness center features a range of weight machines, free weights, aerobics classes and a swimming pool. Members can also receive guidance on their fitness journey through our Exercise Prescription Program, where one of our expert trainers will evaluate your current fitness level, talk with you about your goals and create a workout plan to help you get there.

PLEASE NOTE: Only paying members 18 years of age and older are permitted in the pool area; no guests. Everyone must have their own I.D. card. No lifeguard on duty.

$7 per person per pay period

Employees may join a spouse or dependents aged 14-25 for an additional $7.

Buddy System

The buddy system allows any current, eligible member to join someone that is not a part of any of the mentioned groups above. The only requirement is that the buddy must be accompanied by the member on the initial registration visit.

*Non-Employees are required to purchase a $5 badge for 24-hour access to the gym and identification purposes.

If your badge does not have your picture, apply for a new one at the Fitness Center office. Until you receive your new badge, always be prepared to present your driver’s license alongside your badge.

Aerobics Class Descriptions

Strong by Zumba
Strong by Zumba combines body weight, muscle conditioning, cardio and plyometric training moves synced to energizing music.

Barre
Barre focuses on core stability, controlled movements and cardio bursts to create muscle tone and definition. With a combination of yoga poses, Pilates exercises and ballet positions, this class provides you with a well-rounded workout.

Zumba (Circuit/Bootcamp Style)
Bootcamp-style Zumba uses the hip-hop music and dance moves of traditional Zumba in circuit training format. The class can range from low impact to high intensity depending on participants.

Zumba
Zumba combines light weight training with the popular Zumba dance mix. With upbeat music and exhilarating dance moves, this class will get your blood pumping.
