Baptist Health Medical Center-North Little Rock’s John Bowen Named Young Administrator Of The Year

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. –Baptist Health Medical Center-North Little Rock’s Assistant Vice President John Bowen has been selected as the C.E. Melville Young Administrator of the Year.

Named for the late C.E. Melville, administrator of Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, the Young Administrator of the Year Award is presented by the Arkansas Health Executives Forum. The award recipient is selected by the Arkansas Health Executives Forum’s awards committee. The selection is based on qualifications and criteria set forth by the forum. The nominee must:

       be age 40 or under in the same year as the award presentation.

       have been a resident of Arkansas for at least two years on the date the award is presented.

       be employed by an Arkansas healthcare organization in some type of responsible administrative capacity for at least two years prior to the date he/she is presented the award.

       meet all requirements for active membership in the Arkansas Health Executives Forum. However, active membership in the Forum shall not be a requisite.

       not have been a previous recipient of this award.

A native of Northwest Arkansas, Bowen received his bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Okla., and his master’s degree in health services administration from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

Bowen began his career at Baptist Health in 2012 when he served as assistant vice president and night administrator in Little Rock. He then became assistant vice president and administrator for Baptist Health Medical Center-Arkadelphia in May 2013.While there, he was successful in opening three rural health clinics and coordinating several collaborative initiatives among the Baptist Health regional hospitals.

He most recently was promoted to assistant vice president of patient services at Baptist Health Medical Center-North Little Rock in April 2016 and where he serves to date.
