Baptist Health Medical Center-Conway Named Among Best in Nation for Safe Maternity Care

CONWAY, Ark. – As part of Baptist Health’s participation in the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade assessments over the past two years, Baptist Health Medical Center-Conway was recently named by Leapfrog as one of the best hospitals in the country for maternity care based on its Leapfrog safety grade and other metrics.

To qualify for Leapfrog’s list of the best 250 hospitals for maternity care, eligible hospitals were required to carry an A or B letter grade on the assessment for spring 2022 and meet high safety standards in categories including high-risk deliveries, cesarean sections, early elective deliveries, episiotomies, screening newborns for jaundice before discharge, and preventing blood clots in women undergoing cesarean sections.

Baptist Health has had great success in raising Leapfrog scores through a wide range of safety initiatives across many areas of health care. But more importantly than the actual grades is what all these efforts are leading to –– patients are experiencing decreased infections, decreased surgical complications, and a safer environment.

Leapfrog is a nonprofit organization founded in 2000 to help consumers get a better grasp of safety and quality in health care. Leapfrog is all about using transparency as a driver to improve safety and reliability in hospitals.

The Leapfrog safety grade uses over 30 performance metrics to produce a single letter grade that represents a hospital’s overall performance in keeping patients safe.
