Baptist Health Foundation Receives SWEPCO, AEP Foundation Grant

GREENWOOD, Ark. – Baptist Health Foundation is pleased to announce it was recently awarded $10,000 from the American Electric Power Foundation (AEP Foundation) at the recommendation of Southwestern Electric Power Co. (SWEPCO). The generous funding will support Baptist Health Family Clinic-Greenwood’s community outreach and health education efforts in south Sebastian and Scott counties.

With this grant, Dr. Upton Siddons, a family physician with Baptist Health, and his staff will be able to supply home monitoring supplies and testing kits for patients diagnosed with hypertension and diabetes. The goal is to empower patients to monitor their conditions more closely at home so they can improve their quality of life.

“We are incredibly grateful to AEP Foundation and SWEPCO for their support,” said Dr. Siddons. “This grant will enable us to make a significant impact on the health of our community and reduce the burden patients feel when diagnosed with a chronic condition like high blood pressure or diabetes.”

This new funding is a testament to Baptist Health’s ongoing commitment to improving community health and well-being in Sebastian and Scott counties.

Later this fall, Baptist Health Family Clinic-Greenwood will also offer free flu shots for community members ages 12 and up from 7 a.m to 9 a.m., Friday, Oct. 4 and 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 5 at the clinic. Weather-permitting, the free flu shot clinic will take place in the parking lot.

“We believe it’s vital for the AEP Foundation to give back to the community because it directly impacts the lives of those we serve,” said SWEPCO Engineer Seth Halford. “Supporting initiatives like the Baptist Health Family Clinic-Greenwood not only enhances community health but also fosters a stronger, more connected community. This grant allows us to help improve the quality of life for many families in south Sebastian and Scott counties, which aligns with our mission to power possibilities and enrich lives.”

Baptist Health Family Clinic-Greenwood is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located at 1408 West Center St. For more information about the services that Dr. Siddons provides or to make an appointment, call (479) 996-5585 or visit Baptist-Health.com.
