Baptist Health-Fort Smith to Host Monthly Stroke Support Group Meeting Nov. 14

FORT SMITH, Ark. – Baptist Health-Fort Smith invites stroke survivors, caregivers, and community members to attend its monthly Stroke Support Group meeting at 9 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, in the Baptist Health Classroom located on the first floor of Baptist Health-Fort Smith.

This month’s featured speaker will be Ashton Ferrell, DNP, of Baptist Health Family Clinic–Ellsworth. Ferrell will discuss the importance of maintaining ongoing care with a primary care provider during stroke recovery, including how your provider can help coordinate the care and therapies you need at home and support your long-term health goals.

According to the Arkansas Department of Health, stroke remains one of the leading causes of death and disability in the state, with Arkansans experiencing some of the highest stroke mortality rates in the nation. Ongoing education, early intervention and continued care play critical roles in improving recovery outcomes and preventing recurrent strokes.

Baptist Health’s Stroke Support Group provides education, encouragement and community for stroke survivors and their families. Each month features expert speakers and relevant topics designed to support recovery, promote awareness and empower those impacted by stroke.

The meeting is free and open to the public, and no RSVP is required. Participants may also attend virtually by visiting Baptist-Health.co/BHFSStroke. To view the full schedule of upcoming meetings, visit Baptist-Health.com under Classes & Resources or call (479) 441-4205 for more information.
