LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Dr. Don Garner, assistant vice president of clinical services at Baptist Health, was awarded the Louise Pope Lifetime Achievement Award from the Arkansas Association of Health System Pharmacists.
This award recognizes a member who has a history of continual contributions to their place of employment and most importantly to the pharmacy profession.
Garner has been instrumental in expanding the role of the profession of pharmacy within Baptist Health for his entire career. Some of Garner’s accomplishments include: the creation of a medication history technician program, development of technician and clinical pharmacist career ladders, and clinical pharmacy staff placement within the emergency department. Garner was a part of acquiring latest technologies in order to improve patient care such as the mobile information technologies and securing automated dispensing cabinets and the list goes on and on.
Garner received a bachelor’s of science degree in Pharmacy from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and has been serving Baptist Health for 40 years. He’s responsible for all pharmacy and respiratory services across Baptist Health and serves as assistant administrator at Baptist Health Medical Center-North Little Rock.
