Race For the Cure with Baptist Health

Join the Baptist Health Team in Support of Komen Race for the Cure on October 22.

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is one of the biggest annual events in Central Arkansas — and Baptist Health wants you to be a part of it this year by walking, running, or being a virtual participant on the Baptist Health team.

The largest team Baptist Health has ever fielded for the Race for the Cure consisted of 1,700 employees and friends, and we hope to break that record for the 2011 race.

So get your co-workers, family, and friends and sign up for the Baptist Health team today because while the Race for the Cure may be two months away, registration has begun!

You do not have to be an employee to be on the Baptist Health team.

The 5K race and walk, which has become a must-attend event each year for many and one of the largest fundraisers in Arkansas, will be held Saturday, Oct. 22, on a 5K course through the downtown area. The race starts at the intersection of Broadway and 2nd streets in Little Rock, goes across the river to North Little Rock, and then back to the finish line at Capitol Avenue.

Baptist Health will once again be the presenting sponsor of the Komen Race for the Cure and directly benefits from Komen grant awards each year.

Please help Baptist Health as it supports this important cause that impacts the lives of so many women across Arkansas and their families.

In addition to the women’s 5K run/walk ($26) and the women’s competitive 5K run for under 27-minute runners ($30), other ways to participate include the 2K family fun run/walk ($26), Three Miles of Men ($26), Sleep in for the Cure ($26), and Kids for the Cure ($26).

See the online registration form for more information on each of those categories.

You and your family and friends can also support the race by loading up on carbs the night before the race at Dickey-Stephens Park for $25 per pasta dinner.

Additionally, runners can participate in the Train for the Cure fitness program ($10), which is a six-week clinic that can help prepare runners for the race. A virtual Train for the Cure option (free) enables participants to train on their own with emailed instructions.

All registered participants will also get the official Komen Race for the Cure T-shirt.

Baptist Health has supported Komen’s Arkansas affiliate since its inception by providing necessities such as office space, telephones, office supplies, a computer network, Internet support, and assistance in organizing the annual race, all of which has allowed the Arkansas affiliate to keep its expenses low.

Help Baptist Health once again field one of the largest teams to support the work of the Komen for the Cure’s Arkansas affiliate.
