Weight Loss Programs and Surgical Options

Weight Loss Program

Baptist Health Weight Loss Program is an individualized, non-surgical weight-loss program that will help you lose weight and keep it off for good! We'll help you learn the behaviors and teach you how to make choices for long-term weight management.

Weight loss is all about your health. Extra weight isn’t just uncomfortable, it can lead to many different health conditions such as:

  • Heart Disease
  • Diabetes
  • Increased Cancer Risk
  • High Cholesterol
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Sleep Apnea
  • Joint Pain

Designed for Success

The Baptist Health Weight Loss Program is an easy to follow program based on your body's individual needs. We provide a safe and effective weight loss journey by measuring your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and customizing the program to your individual needs. In our program, we offer:

  • 12 entrées
  • 8 light entrées
  • 13 drink options
  • 8 breakfast options
  • 5 chip flavors
  • 18 snack options

We encourage you to fuel your metabolism for long-term weight management, allowing you to return to a normal diet once you've completed the program. With help from our dietitian, making choices at the grocery store and cooking meals will be a welcomed addition to your new lifestyle. We also encourage physical activity to aid in the weight loss process and maintenance of the weight loss. With the help of an exercise physiologist, we assess and prescribe an appropriate exercise regimen that will preserve your lean body mass to drive the metabolism.

Three-phase Medical Weight Loss Program

 Weight Loss Phase

The first phase of your medical weight loss program will restart your metabolism with the objective of achieving 80-100% of your weight-loss goal. The length of this phase differs for each participant. You will meet with one of our patient educators on a weekly basis to provide support, motivation and accountability to achieve your goals.

 Evolution Phase

Once 80-100% of your goal is obtained, starchy common foods and an increased number of “selfie” meals will be re-introduced. You will continue to meet with a patient educator every other week for the next 4-8 weeks to continue to guide you through your weight-loss journey.

 Maintenance Phase

Congratulations! You have made it to the final stage. This is your longest stage. You reduce your bi-weekly visits to monthly visits. You are preparing your own meals and snacks with some aid from our products.

Weight Loss Partnership

Our multidisciplinary staff has a wealth of knowledge and experience in weight loss, weight maintenance, exercise prescription and healthy living. The weight loss staff consists of registered nurses, exercise physiologists, dietitians and wellness professionals who have multiple years of experience, numerous certifications, and bachelor’s degree or higher. We will guide and encourage you throughout your journey with regularly scheduled weekly appointments and individualized counseling to help address challenges and support successes you will experience along the way. During every step of your journey, you will have us as your partner!

Weight Management Support Group and Cooking Classes

Vital to our medical weight loss program are our support groups and cooking classes. During these classes, you will interact with others who are also moving along in their weight loss journey and understand your challenges and successes. Each support group and cooking class focus on a different topic, so we encourage you to attend as many as possible.
