Shoulder Pain Treatment
A shoulder condition may manifest itself in a variety of ways. Patients with a shoulder issue may experience pain centralized near the injury, or they may have radiating pain throughout the arm. Those with shoulder conditions may also experience tenderness, swelling, inflammation or stiffness. Depending on the condition, recovery may involve a range of treatments including medication, physical therapy, arthroscopy and orthopedic surgery, such as shoulder replacement surgery.
Common shoulder conditions include:
- Chronic tendinitis
- Rotator cuff tear
Hip Pain and Hip Replacement Surgery
Hip pain occurs as a result of an injury to the hip muscles, tendons or bursas, which are small fluid-filled sacs that cushion and lubricate joints. Pain may involve a range of sensations including tenderness, swelling, inflammation or stiffness, and may result in difficulty walking. These injuries typically happen as the cartilage in the hip wears down with use and age. Hip pain is typically treated with medication, physical therapy, hip replacement surgery and/or an osteotomy – a surgical procedure where a portion of bone located near damaged cartilage is removed to redistribute body weight to healthy cartilage.
Common hip conditions include:
- Avascular necrosis
Knee Pain and Knee Replacement Surgery
Knee pain is typically the result of an injury, but can also be caused by the aging process and continual stress on the knee joint. Symptoms may include pain or tenderness, swelling or inflammation, bruising, stiffness or difficulty walking. Knee pain is typically treated with medication, physical therapy, arthroscopy, osteotomy, or knee replacement surgery.
Common knee conditions include:
- Sprained or strained knee ligaments and/or muscles.
- Torn cartilage
- Rheumatoid arthritis
Arthritis and Joint Pain Treatment
Arthritis is the inflammation of the joints that typically results in pain, stiffness, swelling, tenderness, warmth or redness within a joint. Patients with arthritis may also have difficulty using or moving a joint. Arthritis pain is typically a chronic, slow-progressing ailment, but there are numerous options available to help patients effectively manage the condition. It is usually treated with medication, arthritis rehabilitation or surgery.
Common forms of arthritis include:
- Rheumatoid Arthritis
