Services

Arrhythmia Treatment

An arrhythmia, or irregular heartbeat, occurs when there is a change from the normal cadence of electrical impulses that cause the heart to beat too fast, too slow or irregularly. This can result in chest pain, a noticeable erratic or racing heartbeat, and shortness of breath, fatigue or dizziness.

Depending on the type and severity of the arrhythmia, a variety of treatment options may be used to correct the issue, such as electrophysiology (electric shocks), catheter ablation, atrial fibrillation ablations, a pacemaker, the Mini-Maze procedure or cardiac resynchronization therapy.

BHeart Healthy Screenings

Cardiovascular disease often develops slowly, and can go undetected until the condition has significantly advanced. By undergoing a BHeart Healthy Screening for $99, you can assess your risk for cardiac disease or a heart attack, and find out if you have any current conditions that need to be addressed.

This potentially life-saving screening is available to anyone between the ages of 30 and 80 without a previous coronary artery disease diagnosis. Screenings are held every other Friday and you can schedule by calling 501-227-8478.

The BHeart Healthy Screening includes:

• CT Calcium Score
• Laboratory Blood tests:
   • Lipid Panel: Total Cholesterol, HDL, LDL, Triglycerides
   • Diabetes Testing:  Hemoglobin A1C, Fasting Blood Sugar
• Electrocardiogram (ECG)
• Carotid Artery Ultrasound Screening
• Abdominal Aorta Aneurysm Ultrasound Screening
• Blood Pressure Evaluation
• Body Mass Index (BMI)
• Consultation with Baptist Health Cardiovascular Specialist

Heart Attack Treatment

A heart attack is a serious condition that takes place when an artery that delivers oxygen-rich blood to the heart is nearly or completely blocked. When this occurs, patients may experience a variety of symptoms including pressure, tightness, aching, squeezing or pain in the chest or arms. These sensations may also spread to the jaw, neck or back. Sweating, clamminess, breathlessness, nausea, dizziness, sudden irritability, fatigue or irregular pulse can also be signs of a heart attack, particularly if any of these symptoms occur in conjunction with chest pain.

Heart attack treatment is performed in the emergency room and aims to stabilize the patient’s condition, restore coronary flow and prevent future clots. This may entail intravenous therapy, oxygen therapy, pain medication, cardiac medication, Fibrinolytic therapy and antithrombin therapy. In addition to these treatments, a percutaneous coronary intervention procedure or coronary artery bypass surgery may be performed.
