DEALING WITH CESAREAN BIRTH

Baptist Health encourages the dad to be present in the operating room, where he can comfort his partner and, if he wishes, see the birth. The mother will need help in recovering from a cesarean, as she would after any major surgery. The dad plays a vital role in caring for both the mother and baby during her recovery. Be sensitive to the fact that your partner may be disappointed or feel as though she "failed" by not delivering vaginally. She may need time to recover emotionally as well as physically.
