Breastfeeding Philosophy:

BAPTIST HEALTH Medical Center-Little Rock Women's Center encourages and supports breastfeeding. We recognize that breastmilk meets the total nutritional needs of term infants and is the preferred basis of nutrition for premature babies. In addition, breastmilk provides anti-infection benefits to newborns, is economical for the family and also contributes to mother/infant bonding.

We support the World Health Organization/UNICEF Baby Friendly Hospital initiative in the promotion of breastfeeding.

WHAT IS A LACTATION CONSULTANT?
Certified lactation consultants have advanced training in breastfeeding support and education. We help mothers and families initiate and maintain breastfeeding, overcome obstacles and provide emotional and educational support to prevent early weaning and enhance maternal satisfaction. Our phone number is 501-202-7378. Although we are not in the office all the time to take your call, we will return your call if you leave a message. If it's a situation requiring urgent assistance, we suggest you call your pediatrician.

Breastfeeding videos on a variety of topics available daily on the Patient Education Channel

– Answers to your questions are as close as your phone. Our Warmline is staffed by a lactation consultant daily from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
