The Spinal Cord Injury Program at BAPTIST HEALTH Rehabilitation Institute (BHRI) is designed for individuals who have experienced an injury or condition affecting their spinal cord resulting in weakness or paralysis. This is the only Spinal Cord Injury Program in Arkansas that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). CARF promotes quality, value and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served.

The trauma of spinal cord injury crosses the entire spectrum of medical, physical, emotional and psychological problems. Because of this, BHRI provides a team of rehabilitation professionals who have specialized training in the treatment of individuals with spinal cord injury. This team of professionals consists of:

Physiatrists (physicians who specialize in physical and rehabilitation medicine)

Consulting Physicians

Rehabilitation Nurses

Physical Therapists

Occupational Therapists

Chaplains

Care Coordinators/Social Workers

The staff of BHRI utilizes a team approach to rehabilitation. The goal of our program is to help each patient develop a "YES I CAN!" attitude and achieve the highest possible level of independence. The patient and family are key members of the rehabilitation team and assist in goal setting and provide valuable input into their care. Staff and patient/family conferences assure a unified approach to the special concerns and problems related to spinal cord injury.
