Self-Care Training
The
Baptist Health Rehabilitation Institute
therapy gym is equipped with an automobile, a simulated kitchen,
bathroom, living room, and bedroom. These are all designed for the
practice of transfers, cooking, home management, and other daily
activities to lead to a more independent lifestyle.
The Rehabilitation Nursing staff will provide instruction in such
topics as skin care, bowel & bladder management, medication
management, pain management and the monitoring and management of
other issues related to a stroke. Occupational Therapists will provide
training in dressing, grooming, feeding, bathing, cooking and other
self-care needs. A Registered Dietitian will provide dietary counseling
specific to the needs of each individual.
