How does Home Infusion Therapy Work?
All Home Infusion Therapy begins and ends with an order from your physician. As the only

After the order from your physician is received by our Intake Coordinator, our Registered Nurse Clinician will visit with you in your hospital room to discuss your therapy. This discussion will include:
- Any concerns you may have regarding your therapy
- Assess your willingness and ability to administer your own medications
- Begin the training process with you and your care giver
- Coordination of care with home health agencies
- Discuss the financial obligation of your home infusion therapy
Prior to Discharge:
The BAPTIST HEALTH Home Infusion clinical team will determine the appropriate method of administration of your medication that will meet your therapeutic needs and your abilities. Our clinical team is able to select from a wide variety of infusion methods- stationary pumps, small portable programmable pumps, syringe pumps and non-pump options. Our clinical team uses a totally needleless system, so that you and your family will not have to worry about needle sticks. We also teach the fundamentals of aseptic, or sterile technique, and how to monitor your insertion site.
After Discharge:
Once you are at home and comfortable with your home infusion therapy, our BAPTIST HEALTH Home Infusion team will contact you on a weekly basis, or as needed, to determine your ongoing medication and supply needs and to coordinate delivery. Our team of Clinical Pharmacists and Registered Nurses monitor your therapy very closely. This monitoring also includes review of your current lab values. All of the results and findings are directly reported to your physician.
