Find the right Arkansas Eye Doctor for your needs
Low Vision does not mean total blindness. Low vision refers to vision loss that can not be corrected with glasses, contact lenses, medication or surgery. An estimated 14 million Americans have low vision.
While people of any age can have visual impairment, older adults are at greater risk for certain types of eye diseases. The most common causes for decreased vision are: macular degeneration, end stage glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, hereditary disease such as retinitis pigmentosa, strokes, vision damage from trauma or surgery.
Services Include:
- Low vision evaluation and functional assessment by an eye physician
specializing in low vision
- Visual rehabilitation through the use of low vision aides and
devices, such as hand and stand magnifiers, hands free devices,
distance aides and electronic equipment
- Instruction in the uses of various optical aids
- Review of activities of daily living skills for unmet needs
- Education and resource information
- Assistance in obtaining additional services from other agencies in the state
Our goal is to help individuals with decreased vision make the most of their remaining vision enabling them to be independent and to enjoy life to the fullest.
The Low Vision Clinic provides services to patients who
are referred by their eye doctor, however, a clinic staff member
can help arrange the referral and will schedule your low vision
appointment.
