BAPTIST HEALTH Medical Center - Heber Springs became a part of the BAPTIST HEALTH family in 1997, offering comprehensive coverage for the citizens
of Cleburne county and surrounding areas.
BHMC-HS is a growing healthcare facility, dedicated to delivering
quality care by knowledgeable and experienced people. Fully accredited
by the Joint Commision on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations
(JCAHO), BHMC-HS is one of five BAPTIST HEALTH hospitals in Arkansas.
The original Cleburne County Hospital opened as a 36-bed acute
care hospital in 1968. In 1996 the facility became the fifth hospital
in the BAPTIST HEALTH system and the name was changed to Baptist
Medical Center-Heber Springs to reflect its new ownership. The name
was subsequently changed to its current name of BAPTIST HEALTH Medical
Center-Heber Springs (BHMC-HS) in 2003.
"When this hospital joined the BAPTIST HEALTH system a partnership
was forged with the community to provide state-of-the-art healthcare.
We at BAPTIST HEALTH have been privileged to be an integral part
of the vibrant health of this community," stated Russell D.
Harrington, president and CEO of BAPTIST HEALTH.
Patients were moved into a new 60,000 square foot facility in June
of 2007. The new hospital is located at 1800 Bypass Road in Heber
Springs, a more accessible and visible location on the east side
of Heber Springs, serving Cleburne, Van Buren, Faulkner, Independence,
White and Stone Counties.
The new BAPTIST HEALTH Medical Center-Heber Springs includes an
expanded Emergency Department, an expanded Operating Suite, a Centralized
Outpatient Clinic, In-house MRI services, a second covered entrance,
a larger cafeteria and updated inpatient rooms.
"One of the key ingredients to making our community a great
place to live is having access to quality healthcare. We want to
continue to provide the citizens of Heber Springs and surrounding
areas with the very best healthcare available and this new medical
center will allow us to do that," stated Ed Lacy, vice president
and administrator of BHMC-HS.

Hospitalists - What does that mean for you?
A Hospitalist specializes in everybody. A Hospitalist is a hospital’s go-to, staff physician for in-patient care. The hospital’s patients are the Hospitalist’s patients, working in tandem with nursing and staff while staying in constant communication with your physician. He or she is a key figure in the hospital and is familiar with hospital procedures and inner-workings.
What does a Hospitalist do? Think of a Hospitalist like a medical liaison that helps to expedite your care. Among many other functions, our Hospitalists order tests, review charts, and sign-off on discharges. In addition, the Hospitalist is authorized to make medical decisions the nursing staff cannot.
So what’s the benefit to you? On average, a hospital that offers a Hospitalist reduces patient stay by an average of half a day – while adding another layer of quality medical care. Plus, reduced stays can mean reduced costs. Finally, a Hospitalist is available 24/7 to provide patients with quality care around the clock.
Why do we offer a Hospitalist? It’s simple: we’re committed to providing our patients with the very best care.
