Pharmaceutical Services
Our Pharmacists work with the latest pharmacy technology and automation:
- PDA (Palm M505) provided to each pharmacist for patient clinical
information, drug information, intervention documentation and other
types of assistance
- Pendragon Enterprise ® software program on PDA and intranet
for documenting pharmacists’ clinical interventions
- Mercury MD (Medical Record – PDA Interface)
- Pyxis Automated Medication Distribution System
- Automated materials management program for pharmaceuticals
Little Rock:
Work in a variety of decentralized, unit-based settings including
Med/Surg, Cardiology, Oncology, Critical Care, Clinical Services,
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and Surgery in which Pharmacists provide
a number of services to patients and other healthcare professionals.
These services include total parenteral nutrition, pharmacokinetic
dosing, drug information, anticoagulation, and recommendations for
cost-effective pharmacotherapy.

North Little Rock:
Work in a variety of decentralized, unit-based settings including
ICU, CCU, and Med/Surg. Pharmacists provide a number of clinical/distributive
services to patients and health-care professionals. These include
drug information, pharmacokinetic dosing, anticoagulation, total
parenteral nutrition, sterile product preparation, and cost effective
pharmacotherapy.
Arkadelphia:
Work in various clinical settings such as ICU, Med/Surg, OR, Labor
& Delivery, and Emergency Services. Pharmacists provide unit
dose drug distribution using Pyxis Automated Distribution System.
Pharmacists also provide pharmacolkinetic dosing, as well as hyperalimentation
and other clinical assistance to physicians.
Heber Springs:
Work in a variety of clinical settings including Med-Surg, ER and
surgical services. Pharmacist provides unit dose drug distribution
as well as providing clinical pharmacokinetic dosing, total parenteral
nutrition and sterile product compounding.
Students:
BHMC-LR, BHMC-NLR, BHMC-Ark, and BHMC-HS are Clinical Rotation
sites for UAMS Doctorate of Pharmacy students. Students are given
the opportunity to learn and enhance clinical and distributive skills.
They are trained in pharmacokinetic dosing, cost effective pharmacotherapy,
therapeutics, total parenteral nutrition, sterile product preparation,
and anticoagulation. BHMC-LR & BHMC-NLR serve as both a general
hospital pharmacy rotation as well as an adult medicine rotation
for the College of Pharmacy.
