BH Foundation
Scholarship Program
Our country is experiencing a critical shortage of registered nurses
and other healthcare providers. This shortage reflects many trends;
the increase of employment options to the traditional pool of women
and the early retirement of career nurses. BAPTIST HEALTH depends
on BAPTIST
HEALTH Schools - Little Rock (BHSLR) to provide the majority
of nurses and healthcare providers to our hospitals and clinics.
Scholarships provide a powerful incentive for student to enroll
and often graduate from the school. BAPTIST HEALTH Foundation supports
BHSLR by obtaining funding for three areas; the Endowed Scholarship
Program, the Annual Scholarship Program, and the Faculty Excellence
Program.
An Endowed Scholarship can be established with gifts of
$25,000 or more over a one, two or three-year period and can be
named in honor or memory of a loved one, or named for a corporation
or organization. Endowed Scholarships are permanent fund that earn
interest and award scholarships from a portion of the interest earned
the previous year.
Annual Scholarships are gifts of $500 or more that are made
in one year and awarded the same year. More than $300,000 was awarded
to 310 students in 2007 thanks the generosity of many individuals,
foundations and organizations.
The Faculty Excellence Program was established to recognize
outstanding faculty who go "above and beyond" in the call
of duty for our students enrolled at BHSLR. Three faculty members
are recognized in front of their peers with cash gifts of $1,000,
presented to them by Russ Harrington. Gifts of $1,000 or more to
this program may be made annually and can be named in honor or memory
of someone or an organization.
